Of those surveyed (500), 41% said providing staff with health & wellbeing support boosts productivity, followed by loyalty (38%), staff retention (37%), and engagement (36%). Notably, only 31% of employers thought support would improve retention and just 26% said it reduces absenteeism.

Meanwhile, employers expect to see increased demand for support over the next twelve months, especially for mental health. Financial health and health screenings were also cited as reasons for increased demand, alongside fitness, fertility, neurodiversity, addiction, and gender identity.

As employee needs continue to expand and change, Towergate Employee Benefits says it’s vital that employers planning their benefits strategy for 2025 fully understand the requirements of their workforce. They must be able to provide the most appropriate support that promotes wellbeing

With routine procedures severely limited, and the economically inactive not receiving suitable support, employers that provide access to support are more likely to have a workforce that’s present.

“Employee benefits have traditionally been viewed by some, as the perks of the most senior members of staff. Far from this, an effective employee benefits strategy for 2025 should encompass not only employees at all levels but also the business itself. It’ll be a missed opportunity in 2025 if employers don’t get this right,” said Debra Clark, Head of Wellbeing at Towergate Employee Benefits.
