Vitality has revealed new updates to its health insurance offering, including extending its partnership with Boots, new onward care pathways and additional advanced health screening.

This comes after increased demand for primary and everyday healthcare over the last decade. Vitality GP claims rates rose by 326% between 2019 and 2023, while Everyday Care accounted for 70% of all VitalityHealth claims in 2024.

Vitality partnered with Boots earlier this year, initially focusing on weight-management treatment access. Now, the partnership is being expanded to include access to a wider range of everyday digital and high street healthcare services.

From 2027, Vitality will begin rolling out a new GP service in selected Boots stores. Members will be able to access support and advice from the Boots pharmacy team alongside a digital GP consultation, health observations and selected diagnostic services, all in store, with prescription treatment available where appropriate.

VitalityHealth members will also receive 20% off eligible prescription treatments through Boots Online Doctor, a healthcare service with access to clinical advice, treatment where appropriate and at-home test kits.

In addition, Vitality announced Boots Opticians and Boots Hearingcare as its new network partners for optical and hearing services, available as an add-on to Vitality Health Insurance.

Alongside the expanded Boots partnership, Vitality is also updating its health insurance proposition to include 24/7 Anytime Consultations, which allow members to provide their medical information digitally and receive clinical support through Vitality’s Care Hub without needing to book an appointment.

A new Symptom Checker will also aim to help members better understand symptoms and find appropriate guidance. Both services will be available from early November 2026, alongside extended video GP opening hours through HealthHero.

Members with out-of-range health metrics will also be offered advanced blood tests and/or an oculomic assessment, designed to help identify their risk of heart disease earlier. Vitality adds that members will be provided with more personalised guidance on the steps they can take to manage and reduce their risk.

"The role health insurance plays in people’s lives has changed significantly in recent years," Arun Thiyagarajan, CEO of VitalityHealth, said.

"We increasingly see people turn to their health cover not just when something goes seriously wrong, but for the everyday healthcare that can help them understand and manage their health earlier.

"These enhancements reflect that shift and the further impact we can have on people’s health by further expanding our services. By combining digital services with greater access to care on the high street, we’re giving members more choice, helping them access the best care wherever they are on the care pathway.

"Together, this creates a truly connected healthcare experience, spanning prevention, everyday care and specialist treatment, helping our members get the right support at the right time and giving them greater confidence to take control of their health."
