National Friendly has made three new appointments to its team across actuarial, marketing and business development.

Paul Allen has joined as chief marketing officer (CMO). He has over 25 years’ experience in insurance marketing, and previously worked at Zurich Insurance.

Paul describes marketing today as "entering one of the most exciting periods of change I’ve seen in my career," noting that "AI is going to transform how we understand customers, develop propositions, create content and deliver experiences."

At National Friendly, Paul will be responsible for all aspects of marketing, with a particular focus on product proposition and marketing strategies that further enable the Society’s strategic business partners.

Peter Stanley joined as deputy chief actuary in June 2026, reporting to chief actuary Julian Ellacott. His role involves overseeing the actuarial valuations, producing the own risk and solvency assessment (ORSA) and contributing to capital, investment and liquidity management.

Peter is a qualified actuary with 20 years' experience in financial services. Prior to joining, he most recently worked at Lloyds Banking Group and KPMG.

Danny Turner has joined as a business development manager (BDM), having previously worked in BDM and strategic account roles with various providers, including Vitality, Canada Life and The Exeter.
